Julian Neece Courteol went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ on September 18, 2024. He is survived by his daughter Ruth (Craig) Goodman, son Steve (Liz) Courteol, granddaughter Julianne (Joshua) Hayden. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn, parents Jack and Irma Courteol, and his sister Jeanne Courteol Gerdes.Julian was born April 16, 1930, in Dallas, TX. The family moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1936 where his dad took ill and passed away. His mother moved to Bisbee, where Julian grew up, was in Boy Scouts and church youth group, graduated from Bisbee High School in 1948. He attended Bob Jones University, where he met his future wife, Evelyn. They graduated together in 1952. He went on to study missions further at Moody Bible Institute and Denver Seminary.Julian and Evelyn were married June 4, 1955. They moved to Nogales in 1959 and raised two children, Ruth and Steve. They served as missionaries at the Nogales Baptist Seminary for 36 years. He officially retired from SEBANO in 1995, and continued to be actively involved in mentoring, counseling and helping others.Julian was a man of godly character, a lifelong student of the Bible, a follower of Jesus with a servant’s heart, and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Nogales, where he served on the Deacon board, taught Bible studies, and preached on occasion. He also recorded hundreds of episodes of a program in Spanish which answered people’s questions about what the Bible says, for Radio KNOG in Nogales.Services will be held October 5, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Nogales, Arizona. Visitation will be 10:00 -11:00 am, Celebration of Life Service 11:00 am, burial to follow at Nogales City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial donations be made to either missionsdoor.org/project/nogales-baptist-seminary-sebano/ or to First Baptist Church of Nogales, AZ.
