Octavio Mendoza Ainza, 80, a devoted father and grandfather, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, September 7, surrounded by his beloved family. Known to the community as "Chango," his presence and unwavering spirit left an unforgettable mark on everyone he met.
A lifelong resident of Nogales, where he moved from his birthplace of Mexicali, Baja California, at age 16, Octavio was a butcher by trade. His tireless dedication and hard work were the foundation upon which he built a life for his family. After his retirement, he channeled his formidable energy into his greatest passions: sports and community. He dedicated himself to coaching and mentoring young athletes, and his impact on the field, from countless little leagues to championship games, was immeasurable.Octavio's legacy spans both Nogales, Arizona, and Nogales, Sonora, where he was revered not only for his profession but for his larger-than-life personality. He was a man who championed the underdog, spoke with an honest and direct voice, and lived with a spirited intensity that was truly unforgettable.He is survived by the mother of his children, Isabel Ainza; his five children: Bea Ainza, Mari Villafuerte, Jorge Ainza, Aurora Ainza, and Claudia Garcia; and his 11 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jorge Ainza and Josephina Mendoza Ainza, and his cherished grandson, Jorge Octavio Ainza III
