It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Sandra Luz Velasco at the age of 70. Known for her kind, loving and caring personality, she passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024.An Arizona native, Sandra was born on May 24, 1954 to Delfina and Cipriano Ayala in Nogales, Az. She was the youngest of five siblings.Throughout her teenage years, Sandra was recognized locally for her involvement in beauty pageants, parades and other local festivities in both Nogales, Sonora and Nogales, Arizona. After graduating high school in 1973, she went on to work for Capin’s Company, the Santa Cruz County Health Department and retired from the United States Department of Agriculture. She was a hard-working woman who did all she could to provide for her daughter, parents and grandchildren. In 1976, Sandra met Jorge Velasco. They later married and had one daughter, Melinda Lizette Velasco.Sandra loved to dance, listen to music, sing and celebrate life with those around her. Family is what meant the most to her, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing made her happier.Sandra is predeceased by her parents, Cipriano & Delfina Ayala and brothers, Cipriano & David Ayala.She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Velasco- Jackson, Grandchildren, Donte Watts and Madison Velasco, Great-Grandchildren Kaylee, Mackenzie and Romeo Watts, Sister, Norma Silva, and Brother Jesse Ayala.Her departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her deeply in her community. The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering.
